Quandel Named One of the Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania
8/30/2010

HARRISBURG - For the fourth year in a row, Quandel Enterprises, Inc., a Harrisburg construction firm, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in PA for 2010. The awards program, created in 2000, is one of the first statewide programs of its kind in the country. The program is a public/private partnership between Team Pennsylvania Foundation, the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and the Central Penn Business Journal.

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places to be employed in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. In the past, employers were categorized based upon the number of employees they had in Pennsylvania. This year, employers were categorized based upon the total number of employees they have in the United States. This change was made to ensure the proper alignment of organizations and to avoid naming large national employers to the small/medium list simply because they have fewer employees based in Pennsylvania. This change did not have any impact on which organizations made the list, just how they were categorized.

To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Have at least 25 employees in Pennsylvania;
- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in Pennsylvania; and
- Be in good standing with Commonwealth agencies under the Governor's jurisdiction.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the 100 Best Places to Work in PA. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process.

Quandel Enterprises, Inc. will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in PA evening awards ceremony on Thursday, November 30, 2010, at the Lancaster County Convention Center in Lancaster, PA. Rankings will be revealed at the ceremony.

BIM is essentially is a new way to collaboratively bring all the team members together to work under one "model" for the building. "The application of BIM in the building industry will revolutionize the process for constructing new and remodeled buildings. Because the Owner can be involved much earlier in the development process, with an ability to 'walk through' a space before it is constructed, they can bring a new focus to their programming and plan flexibility into their buildings," explains Roland. Gahanna, OH - Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools has awarded The Quandel Group, Inc. of Westerville the construction management services contract for their innovative New Gahanna Lincoln Learning Center. This unique facility will combine retail and state-of-the-art educational spaces in a new 72,000 square foot, three-story facility.

Gahanna-Jefferson's Board of Education and the project team are very excited about this "community project" and are incorporating measures to promote and encourage local contractor and supplier participation in the construction of the $13.8 million facility, which will be primarily funded through revenues from the first floor retail development and future on-site retail development.

Bid Houk, a local Gahanna architecture firm, has been selected by Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools to design the extraordinary facility, in conjunction with the Ohio School Facilities Commission and the Expedited Local Partnership Program. This revolutionary approach to education will offer a new environment in which to engage the students of Gahanna-Jefferson in non-traditional formats and will be a model for future educational trends. The project will start with the demolition of the existing Kroger shopping center before the end of 2009. The new Gahanna Lincoln Learning Center will be operational for the 2011 school year.

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places to be employed in Pennsylvania, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The Best Places to Work in PA list is made up of 100 companies divided into two groups: 50 medium-sized companies with 25-250 employees and 50 large-sized companies with 251 or more employees.

Quandel Enterprises, Inc. will be recognized at the Best Places to Work in PA evening awards ceremony on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey, PA. Rankings will be revealed at the ceremony.
