Project Name

Southern State Community College Mt. Orab Academic Building

Location

Mt. Orab, OH

Project Description

In November 2011, Southern State Community College received approval to purchase a 63-acre parcel of land in Brown County to establish a campus in Mt. Orab. Quandel was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk for the first academic building on this campus. The project consists of a 50,000 square foot facility, which includes general classrooms, laboratories, and learning commons. The facility’s new state-of-the-art laboratories will allow Southern State to offer new programs in HVAC and Cyber Security & Forensics. A bookstore, student lounge, tutoring rooms, open and closed study areas, faculty offices, and administrative offices are also included in the new facility.

This project’s development takes into account future utilization of the site for additional college facilities, and sets the architectural tone for Southern State Community College’s presence in Brown County. Quandel assisted the Architect with pre-construction services and developed a GMP. We have worked closely with the architect through design and have completed extensive constructability reviews in order to ensure a smoothly-run project.

This is a LEED Registered project with the goal of Silver certification.
